NMIT and Waimea College unite to celebrate Race Unity Day on Sunday 19th March.
Race Unity Day at Waimea College

Race Unity Day is a day to celebrate the diverse cultures that we have represented in Nelson and at NMIT. A number of NMIT students and staff performed traditional dances and songs throughout the day.

Students from Oberlin University in Japan(external link) came along to teach Origami and translate names at our combined stall. The students are part of an exchange program between NMIT and Oberlin University(external link) where they must do volunteer work in return for course credits on their degree programme in japan. These students are learning English for 4 Months in Nelson, after this they will return to Japan to complete their degree's.
