Our zero-fee community computing courses are available in Nelson and Marlborough with learning materials available from an online directory.

NMIT's Introductory Computing course materials are self-paced. Study from anywhere you have an internet connection.

Some assistance may be available through the study support tutors at our Library Learning Centres in Nelson and Marlborough but as the courses have step by step instruction, you should require minimal assistance.

When you enrol you will gain access to courses in each of the following:

  • Word (Introductory & Intermediate)
  • Excel (Introductory & Intermediate)
  • PowerPoint
  • Publisher (Introductory & Intermediate)
  • Access Database (Introductory & Intermediate)
  • Email
  • File Management for Windows 7 and Keyboarding.

Those wishing to partake in this kind of learning must have access to the Internet and broadband.  However, you can also use the library facilities on campus in Nelson or Marlborough and also take advantage of the cafes on site. Why not get a group together to upskill together on this free programme and organise your own group to work through the programme material together.

The courses are offered between 14 February to 19 December and you can commence studies at any time.
