This micro-credential is designed to provide the primary industries sector with individuals who have leadership capability tailored to the specific requirements of the sector.
The seasonal nature of the sector creates an ongoing need for rapid upskilling of existing staff to supervise and mentor less experienced staff, and leaders new to the primary industry workforce.
On completion your staff will be able to:
Manage team work-flow and workplace conflict while maintaining positive relationships
Show an understanding and awareness of the different cultures and diversity when leading a team
Use team-building skills to lead, motivate and manage a team
Describe and apply key leadership theories, communication and interpersonal skills

Our partners Invest Training Solutions(external link) will work with you to develop a training plan that will work for you and your team. They will arrange the programme applications with NMIT, training resources and arrange supportive workplace study sessions as needed.
Over 10 weeks, learners will be provided with resources to take them through their learning via NMIT's online learning portal, Moodle.
You can expect:
Group classes taught by a tutor at your workplace (20-40 hours - flexible to suit the needs of your team)
Workplace learning (40 hours). The practice of the learnings in a practical environment, gathering of evidence such as digital footage and images, sound bites which could be captured by the learner's mobile phone
Self-directed learning (40 hours). This is managed by the learner, to revise and do their assessments in their own time
Methods of assessment
A variety of methods are used to assess. these are set out in a manner that suits the practical candidates involved in the programme and includes the following:
Practical on-the-job evidence that may include journals, photos, video clips and sound bites – with an explanation linking to evidence
Scenario’s where learners respond to issues and problems in a real-world setting
Evidence-based portfolios
There is support in all aspects of the learner’s journey throughout the programme.
The tutor will support learners with the theory and assessment requirements throughout the programme
Pastoral care will be provided by the Invest pastoral team, who will be on-call and ready to assist from day one. They will provide help in any areas the learner may need and will have regular contact with each individual (confidential if required), as well as the groups throughout the programme.
Learners will be able to use their new mentoring knowledge and skills in a practical way with each other. The support you will give each other will be invaluable and develop into ongoing trusting and supportive relationships in their learning journey.
