Welcome to the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT)

The Nelson Campus is located near the city's vibrant centre, and is just a five-minute walk to cafés, craft breweries, sustainable grocers, bakeries, great shopping and art galleries. Surrounded by parks and close to many walking and biking tracks, the gardensque campus is the perfect location for your learning journey. 

Here, you can study anything from art and design to nursing to mechanical engineering, with high-end facilities available throughout the campus, both the maritime and aquaculture departments are hubs of education for New Zealand.

Nelson Tasman is revered as New Zealand's sunshine capital, covering the north west of the top of the south island (Te Tauihu). At the heart of the region is Nelson City, the largest city and commercial region centre across Te Tauihu, complemented by a variety of vibrant towns, beaches and rural settlements. 

With three national parks, you can explore everything from golden beaches to high mountain peaks in this highly diverse region. 

NMIT is the region’s leading tertiary provider, carrying out teaching and learning at four campus’s located throughout the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough regions. 

Offering over 100 programmes at certificate, diploma and degree level, NMIT’s extensive range of flexible learning options cater for learners from all walks of life.

Throughout many of our programmes, students regularly connect with local businesses, researchers, industry experts and potential employers. Combined with our close industry ties, this enables us to help students gain work placements, apprenticeships and scholarships.
