We are excited to welcome our new ākonga (students) to NMIT with a special Mihi Whakatau—a traditional Māori welcome that acknowledges and embraces new members of our learning community.
This is a time for building connections. Our kaimahi (staff) will formally welcome you and introduce you to your new learning environment.
🕘 9:45 a.m. – Ākonga, kaimahi, and manuhiri (guests) arrive and take their seats.
🕙 10:00 a.m. – Whakatau begins, led by our kaikōrero (speakers).
🎶 Waiata Tautoko: Staff will sing Purea Nei in support.
🙏 Closing Karakia – To conclude the formal welcome.
👋 Welcome Address: Our Executive Director and SANITI Speaker will introduce you to the NMIT whānau.
🍽 10:20 a.m. – Kai (food) will be provided for new ākonga.
🎓 10:30 a.m. – Students will be organised into their classes and return to their learning spaces.
This is the beginning of an exciting journey, and we can’t wait to support you as you embark on this new adventure at NMIT!
