We are excited to welcome our new ākonga (students) to NMIT with a special Mihi Whakatau—a traditional Māori welcome that acknowledges and embraces new members of our learning community.
This is a time for building connections. Our kaimahi (staff) will formally welcome you and introduce you to your new learning environment.
🕘 9:45 a.m. – Learners to meet us in the Kōwhai Lounge to be seated.
🕙 10:00 a.m. – Whakatau begins, led by our kaikōrero (speakers).
🎶 Waiata Tautoko – Staff will sing Purea Nei in support.
🙏 Closing Karakia – To conclude the formal welcome.

🍽 Karakia kai – An invitation for all to share in food together.
🥧 10:20 a.m. – Slices and juice available for new learners.
🎓 10:30 a.m. – Students return to class and settle into learning spaces.
🍴 12:00 p.m. – Students are welcome back to enjoy lunch provided by SANITI.
