Held at the Richmond Campus, these plant sales raise around $15,000 each year, which go directly back into supporting student learning and hands-on experiences. Funds are used to maintain the gardens and plant propagation facilities and student field trips to local growers.

The event, known for drawing large crowds, offers high-quality plants at unbeatable prices, and boasts a vibrant assortment of plants on offer, including native species and vegetable seedlings.

“We are incredibly proud of the support we receive from the community,” says horticulture tutor, Jenny North.

“The success of the plant sale wouldn’t be possible without them, and it’s a great opportunity for our students to put their skills to work and interact with customers.”

This spring’s sale will feature an abundant selection of vegetable seedlings, and a range of ground covers and shrubs. Herb enthusiasts will find their favourites, and a variety of natives, including mirror bush, flaxes, native blueberry, flowering manuka, nikau, and even kauri trees will be on sale.

There will also be a selection of fruiting varieties, such as avocados, grapes, passionfruit, and tamarillo, as well as a range of houseplants.

The plant sale is being held at Richmond Campus, Saturday, 19 October from 9am to 12pm. See you there!
