Laura Price is a Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy learner.

Laura is working towards her New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy(external link) and is eager to head over to Australia with her boyfriend to gain some working experience in the industry.

“I plan to come back to New Zealand after a few years and set up my own business,” Laura says.

She absolutely loves her coursework, and her calm, confident and passionate manner certainly puts her clients at ease.

“I love tinting, and I reckon I will enjoy nails as well, which we are just about to start on.”

Laura had just practiced her first lash lift and was recently taught the skills for tanning.

“Tanning was a lot of fun, we practiced on each other,” she says.

There’s a lot of skills to cover in the Level 4 programme, from waxing to facials to tints to nails. The training is thorough, with a tutor constantly on hand to support learners and answer any questions whilst the training salon is open for business.

Laura attended the Hospitality Trades Academy programme held at NMIT, and decided school wasn’t for her, leaving at the end of Year 12. She has always been passionate about beauty and chose to hone her skills and get the necessary credentials to work in the industry.

“I already do all my friends’ brows at home,” she says.

Come along to Beauty Zone(external link) for affordable, thorough and well-executed treatments – open on Tuesdays and Thursdays until examinations in November. Bookings can be made via email or phone.
