Nelson and Marlborough are incredible study destinations. They burst with life and energy like a big city yet retain a lovely community feel. Both enjoy some of the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand (Marlborough clocked a whopping 2800 hours in one year and currently sits at number one for highest sunshine hours in NZ).
Nelson campus is located in the heart of Nelson city. Stroll or cycle from one end of town to the other easily. Stop and enjoy one of many boutique shops, cafes and bars. From Nelson, you can drive over to Marahau and experience tramping in the Abel Tasman National Park, or stay a little closer and paddle board from Tahuna Beach to Haulashore Island.

“All the tutors here are amazing helping people. They'll sit down and communicate with you as opposed to when I was school you'd be spoken at.” - Astrid Jeppesen, NMIT Arts & Media Graduate
Gain hands-on experience with the equipment you’re likely to use in your new career. Over $43 million has been invested in recent years in a range of modern facilities. Programmes are worded in work ready language and include a graduate profile statement. You’ll finish with the right set of skills needed in order to thrive in the workplace. You won’t need to explain how your qualification differs from someone else. You’ll be able to say "this is my qualification" and the industry will understand what that means for you and them.
NMIT works with local companies, organisations and industries to provide the most current, industry-aligned programmes available. They help us develop new programmes, provide study scholarships for your benefit, sponsor new facilities and provide 'real world' work experience via placements.
