He is an active researcher and has completed projects on topics including mentoring, men’s health, fathering, disability, mental health and family violence, with several projects having been externally funded. The completed projects have resulted in a range of publications, presentations and reports.
David is excited about NMITs movement towards ‘blended’ learning which necessitates a move away from a focus on lecture/content-based teaching to that of a problem-based and student-centered approach.
In addition David works with the Male Room, a support and advocacy service for men and their families based in Nelson but affiliated to national groups, where he brings his nursing experience and primary health knowledge in supporting its activities.
