She comes with a wealth of knowledge of the community sector. She gained her Masters in Health Science with first class honour’s in 2012 through Auckland University and has gained a post graduate certificate in advanced nursing in 2014.
She currently co-directs a youth health and wellbeing charitable trust ‘Whanake Youth’ based in Stoke and works closely with Te Piki Oranga. The trust has a team of 2 nurses and 1 project lead/administrator to empower young people age 13-25 years in their health and well-being journey to adulthood. She continues to have a clinical role working in the youth and health sector with young people and their whanau and finds that this a role that is ‘full on’, but a joy to walk alongside young people in their journey to adulthood. Lee-Ann brings her enthusiasm, knowledge and passion to support student nurses as they too realise their potential and grow to become skilled Registered Nurses.
The Bachelor of Nursing (BN) program at NMIT is delivered by an excellent team of dedicated nurses. The team has a broad knowledge base in nursing specialty areas and work hard to deliver a high quality program, to connect student nurses with a wide range of experiences within the top of the south. No other place has what NMIT offers our nursing students.
Lee-Ann loves her role as BN Year 3 coordinator and her teaching role primarily in Year 3. “It’s great to see the students in their final year grow in ability and confidence! Together we move from tutor-student to colleagues. Nursing is such a privilege to work with people at their most vulnerable, and to be part of the care and healing in whatever shape that may take”.
