Saikrishna completed a masters in Animation and VFX from the University of Dundee before working as a VFX artist for several years. He then discovered a passion for teaching and completed his PhD in Virtual Reality at the University of Waikato before joining NMIT as a tutor.
“I have worked in the VFX industry (Future Works Media) for a couple of years on Hollywood projects such as Avengers - Infinity War, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and Thugs of Hindustan,” says Saikrishna. “I’ve also served as an in-house 3D rigging artist for smaller projects.”
Saikrishna wanted to use all his industry experience to teach students about the art of VFX and introduce them to the industry.
“I prefer running tutorials, along with hands-on demonstrations in the class. I also encourage collaborative learning and one-on-one sessions with the students depending on their needs.”
During his PhD research, Saikrishna was a sessional assistant, giving him a taste for interacting with students and teaching them new concepts.
“At NMIT, I aim to develop the same culture of learning and introducing students to new and novel technologies in CGI.”
