I love that fact nature is a potent teacher, giving lessons to the students that we can never do.
I strongly believe in the importance of engaging with outdoor environments in a positive fashion to enhance student learning. In terms of guiding, I believe it’s about “interacting with nature with good people and showing them a good time”. I think there is something marvellous in all things of nature, especially engaging with nature in various challenging ways, whether it is climbing, tramping, rafting, or sea kayaking. I have a passion for rock climbing, I also do a bunch of work outside NMIT for the New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association, assessing rock climbing instructors and I am also a technical expert for audit companies in rock climbing activities.
