To develop an understanding of the biochemistry of the major and minor nutrients with reference to aquatic organisms and the different qualitative and quantitative nutritional requirements of aquatic organisms. Students will learn the principal ingredients used in aquatic organisms’ diets and the processes used to formulate and manufacture them. Students will be familiar with standard laboratory food analyses.
To develop a critical awareness of the requirement and management of complete feeds for intensively reared stocks and supplementary feed for aquatic organisms reared semi-intensively.
