BCG501 Te Timatanga/Introduction to Counselling

This course introduces students to the profession of counselling in the bicultural context of Aotearoa New Zealand. Students will learn about themselves in relation to their personal worldviews and locate themselves culturally. Students will be introduced to selected theories, drawn from both Māori and western worldviews, to support the interweaving of theory, relationships and skills within a beginning professional counselling practice.
