Students will learn the basic skills / techniques used to draft their own individually fitted jacket block.

This workshop will involve drafting a jacket pattern from scratch for individual body measurements. Jackets will then be fitted and altered (if required). Students will go on to create/style the collar and revere along with the two-piece sleeve block.  Tailoring techniques will be used throughout.

Students will draft a fitted jacket. Learning both tailored pattern drafting and construction techniques. They will also learn why such techniques are used and how it applies to the body when 'fitting' (for both comfort and movement of the jacket when worn). Individually fitting their jackets to achieve the best fit for themselves.

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Draft a tailored jacket block, including fitting the jacket to personal requirements
  • Draft a tailored two-piece sleeve block
  • Design and draft a collar and revere
  • Have an overall understanding of tailoring and the techniques involved to achieve both a better fit and a higher quality finish
